Mediterranean Epiblog

Another enjoyable cruise with Celebrity on one of the older ships to some familiar ports. We visited Malta again after many years and Katakolon was somewhere new for us. Mark has backpacked around the Greek Islands before but Malta, Santorini,  Mykonos and Kusadasi (in Turkey) were all new for Mark and Katie.  I had hoped to go to Olympia and the Temple of Zeus on my birthday but the heat put us off and we spent an enjoyable day in Katakolon instead. Katie planned to have a paddle in the Aegean sea off the Turkish coast  but settled for one in the harbour at Mykonos town.

We only had one poor weather day (on a sea day) but the rest of the time was hot and sunny.

The food and friendly staff were up to Celebrity standard and the signature lobster dish in the Murano restaurant was a revelation - no more lobster in MDR for me.

Getting to and from the cruise worked out OK with a pre-cruise night in the airport Melia although travelling home from Rome was a long day for everyone. Mark did a Rome mini tour with Celebrity to fill in some time.
